Ben,
I am so glad you are doing something like this. I'm sure in the end it will be a profound experience, despite and because of being so far away from friends and family. What you are doing is something to be admired!

Sounds like yer havin a pretty good time out there aside from the homesickness. I feel you, kinda. When I travelled I missed people and things a lot too, those comforts of home that you take for granted. But then I just tried to throw myself into gettin to know people, making a new friend system to hang out with and take joy in the vagabond lifestyle. It's freeing knowing you can go where you want when you want. Anyway, I think the key is try to key in on ways to take yer mind off home and try to focus on the now, as hard as that may be.

Ben. wow. first of all, i am so very happy to hear you are traveling, and EXTREMELY jealous that you are in ireland. second, reading this blog is like looking into a mirror of my thoughts a few months ago. I spent 6 weeks in Germany in May/June and it was the most amazing experience of my life, but also one of the hardest things i have ever done. Homesickness was the theme of the trip for sure, but i assure you that as soon as you are home you will want nothing more than to go straight back. In the meantime, do what you can you enjoy every second of this trip... and PLEASE call me when you get back. we will exchange pictures and travel stories.
